Job Description

Summary

The Behavioral Health Specialist is the first point of contact when provider calls The Child Psychiatry Access Network-CPAN and The Perinatal Psychiatry Access Network-PeriPAN. They will support providers providing education, resources and referrals, all with the goals to assist provider with patients in their clinic and educate providers in the process. This position requires independent, advanced professional work involving medical and psychiatric social case services in the assessment of clients and relatives to obtain social history relevant to medical problems/treatment.

Job Duties

  • Answers client calls and assesses need for services.
  • Obtains and documents call intake information from the provider. 
  • Plans a course of treatment or refers clients to appropriate agencies and physicians.
  • Researches resources and referral.
  • Provides consultation services, within scope of license, including providing crisis intervention information, safety/clinic crisis protocol plan development, and validating referral/resource information.
  • Contacts referral and resource agencies to obtain updated agency information.
  • Serves as a liaison between medical and nursing staff, clients, relatives and appropriate outside agencies.
  • Participates in CME presentations.
  • Engages in outreach to local region. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • No experience required.
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern (LPC – I), Licensed Professional Associate-Intern-(LPA-I), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Associate (LMFT-A), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
