Job Description

Full-time Dermatopathology Histology Technician II who will be responsible for performing technical procedures and tasks supporting the day-to-day operations of the Dermatopathology Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. In addition, he/she will provide technical expertise to ensure proper functioning of the laboratory division for optimal quality, efficiency, productivity and turn-around-times.

Specific Job-Related Duties:

• Performs highly specialized diagnostic histology, including grossing, routine processing, embedding, sectioning and staining tissue specimens, for microscopic examination by the Dermatopathologist.
• Prepare solutions, perform special stain techniques, and provide leadership in development of new and modified lab techniques.
• Performs specialized procedures such as frozen sections, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. Determines proper fixative solutions in which tissues are maintained.
• Serves as the resource for coordination of research projects, test validation, and clinical test implementation activities in the department.
• Responsible for Quality Metrics to improve the value of patient care.
• Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulatory agencies.

Shift: Monday – Friday 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Salary Range:

The hourly rate range for this position is $37.53 - $42.53 - $48.67. Minimum Education: Related Undergraduate Study Minimum Experience: 3 Years of histotechnician experience in a clinical laboratory Combined education/experience as a substitute for minimum experience Minimum Field of Expertise: HT/HTL (ASCP) Certification required Preferred Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree 2-5 years of working experience in a Dermatopathology Laboratory.
