Job Description

Join our Research and Development team as a Food Scientist where you can create food people enjoy. Lead and collaborate on complex programs from ideation through scale-up for new products, value transformation savings and product quality improvement. As the technical expert, you will apply your knowledge of food science and process technology. This hybrid position is based out of Battle Creek, MI, however there is potential consderation for individuals located in Chicago, IL. Estimated travel is 15-30%.

 

Innovate with us as you develop and refine food process technology from idea generation through proof of concept to commercialization. You will assume the role of an innovator, project leader, and technical problem solver. Team up with cross-functional partners to provide timely and cost-effective innovation / renovation to drive growth. This role will work across Kellanova’s Salty Snacking cracker categories, working on some of our most iconic brands like Pringles, Cheez-Its, Club and Townhouse to name a few!

 

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Drive Business Growth – Lead and support research and development projects from end to end. Manage projects on technical and scientific investigations & experimentation.
  • Leadership – Demonstrate your capabilities as a project leader, planner, coordinator and technical expert. Drive business results through collaboration & effective communication.
  • What’s Trending? –Your innovative mindset will serve you well in discovery, advancement, and evaluation of new technologies in food/process research and development. Have a significant impact on new products, improved products, and increased efficiency on our brands.
  • Innovation/Creativity – Provide innovative, timely, and cost-effective improvements. This will include concepts, developments, and commercialization. Share scientific insight and understanding with respect to new or existing products or processes.
  • Technical Expertise -Leverage your technical expertise and culinary acumen. Design food while you develop and commercialize different initiatives. This includes innovation, cost optimization, external partnerships, and process improvements through intellectual & empirical curiosity, investigation & training. 

 

We’re Looking for Someone With

 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science and/or Food Processing & Technology or higher education with relevant experience.
  • Experience in product formula optimization and assessing emerging technologies in the food industry.
  • Proven track record of leadership, business acumen, cost consciousness, communication skills, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to promote good relations with all facets of management and other technical and scientific disciplines in the effective execution of projects.

 

Compensation

 

The annual salary range is $101,800-$133,500, which is based on various factors such as location, experience and skill. Discretionary bonuses based on company and individual performance are also available.
